This week has been another productive week for me. For the first time in a very very long time, I missed my Saturday run. Not only did I miss my long Saturday run, but I did not make it up on Sunday. In the past, if I miss my run on Saturday, I always make it up on Sunday. That being said, I did go for a run on Sunday, just not my 2 hour run.

As you can see, I did a pretty good job pacing myself this week. Most of my times out and back were about the same. On Wednesday, I made a big mistake and ran in the heat of the day and struggled to finish and therefore, my back time was horrible. I am hoping to run every day this week very very early in the morning. Maybe this week will be much better.
As always, have a GREAT week of running and KEEP RUNNING!!

Nothing better than a good run! I've been running for over 30 years and find myself enjoying it more every run. Running marathons is a thing of the past for me. I'm extremely proud to have been able to complete 14 marathons. These days, my goals have changed and I have enjoyed running 1 1/2 marathon a month. Woot! Running 3-4 times a week is good enough. Spending time with my wife and kiddos, Juliana(14) and Jessa(13) are priority for me these days. GR8FL!

July 16-July 22
Well, another week in the books! A pretty good week! I only missed one run this week. I am pretty proud of myself. That being said, I actually slowed down a great bit and relaxed and enjoyed my runs as well. I did a foolish thing this week. On Wednesday, I decided to run around 2ish when the temperatures were around the mid 80's and that was a big big mistake! I suffered greatly and I feel strongly that this caused me not to be able to run on Thursday. Therefore, missing my only run of the week.

Well, as you can see, I had a much better week of running than last week. I only missed one day of running, really two. I normally leave Sunday's open as to how I feel. I hate that I missed my 1 hour 30 minute run on Thursday. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. I definitely slowed down this week and I am so proud of that fact. This weeks' runs were much more comfortable and my heart rate deccreased signficantly. As you can see, most of my splits were good this week with the exception of Wednesday and that was mostly due to running in the heat of the day(that will not happen again). As you can see from my run on Saturday, I ran 12.4 miles in 2 hours whereas last week I ran for 2 hours and 7 minutes and ran 14.1 miles, nearly a 2 mile difference. Allen and I ran probably 11 miles together and I ran the last few miles solo.
This week will be a week of running bright and early(5:30 a.m.). It will be interesting to see how different my times and mileage will be due to the cool temperatures that come with running early.
Hope everyone has had a GREAT week of running!
KEEP RUNNING!!

July 9-July 15
Wow, what a week! I never realized that I had gotten out of shape. Man, I am a little disappointed, but nevertheless, it is what it is! I guess me being out of shape is a bit of an exaggeration, but I do know this: I am not in as good a shape as I thought I was. As I said last week, I started my training for my next marathon this week. Sadly, I missed 3 days of training this week.
Here are this weeks results:
Monday: Unable to Run
Tuesday: 10.6 mi/1:29:37/out-44:58/back-44:39/AVG.HR=155/MAX.HR=171
Wednesday: 7.5 mi/1:04:03/out-30:02/back-34:11/AVG.HR=156/MAX.HR=177
Thursday: Unable to Run
Friday: REST
Saturday: 14.1 mi/2:07:41/out-59:53/back-1:07:48/AVG.HR=152/MAX.HR=167
Sunday: Unable to Run
Mileage: 32.2
One thing I noticed this week is that I am starting to get into some of my old habits. I noticed that I am running way too fast and my runs have not been very comfortable. Because of this, you can see a noticeable difference in my out and in times on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. I am definitely running much farther in the time period of running compared to my previous marathon training. This is mostly because I am running too fast. I will definitely work on that this weekl Also, I am planning to start some type of speed training once, maybe twice a week.
KEEP RUNNING!!

July 2-July 8
I hope everyone had a HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!! I really enjoyed my 4th. Of course, I ran the Peachtree Road Race and had a fairly good race. My time was 46:12, which was about a minute faster than last year. I was hoping for a 45 minute race, but nevertheless, I am happy. I only ran once before the Peachtree race and then I ran Saturday. Thats all the running that I did this week.

My wife and I will be celebrating our 2-year wedding anniversary this weekend, so I will be leaving town on Saturday evening and returning on Monday. That being said, I will NOT be running on Sunday and probably not Monday. Also, I am happy to start my training for my next marathon on Tuesday. I will post my new training schedule later. Because of my PR at my last marathon, I will be using the Arthur Lydiard program again.
That's all for this week, KEEP RUNNING!

2007 Bosnia Mission Trip
On June 2, I went on a short-term mission trip with North Point Community Church to Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was definitely an eye-opening experience and a blessing to be able to make a difference. The trip was from June 2-June 11. While we did not have as many English classes as we had hoped for, we still were able to do a whole lot around the church to help them in many other ways. I hope you enjoy the photos and thanks again for all of your prayers and financial support!
