June 29-July 5

Happy 4th of July to everyone! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I had a great week of training this week! I was very happy with the running that I was able to get in and the one lone bike ride. I had planned to run on Thursday, but just got a bit tired and decided to take it easy. I was able to get a bike ride in and had hoped to get in one more, but unable to do so.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 6.8 mi(run)/59:07/Wow, that JF hill was a killer! First time running the Johnson Ferry hill in a very long time. Not a bad run, although it was pretty humid.

Tuesday: 4.1 mi(run)/35:18/Nice, flat run from the gym. Took my time and enjoyed to cooler morning temperature!

Wednesday: 6.1 mi(run)/52:02/Whew! This was one run that I could not wait to be over. I ran some good hills, I was just tired from the get-go and really did not feel like running. Ugh!

14 mi(bike)/44:57/Nice ride with Jerry, man, my legs were tired from my morning run. Still a pretty good ride with tons of hills.

Thursday: REST

Friday: REST

Saturday: 6.2 mi(Peachtree Road Race)/47:06/Nice Peachtree run! I was very happy with how great I felt throughout the run. I ran the mile splits that I was hoping to run and I was able to finish very strong!

Sunday: REST

Weekly Miles: 23.2 miles(run)/14 miles(bike)

My wife and I had a house full of people over the weekend. The weekend started on Thursday evening with my niece, Ariel coming to stay with us. She and Sabrina were able to spend a good bit of time together. Then, on Friday my brother BJ and his family came in town for the Peachtree. It was pretty cool having all the family be at the Peachtree Road Race. Thanks to Jonathan, Jordan, Kaitlyn and Ariel for coming to cheer us all on. Hope everyone has a great week of training!

June 22-June 28

Alrighty, here we come Peachtree Road Race! Yeah! I am getting excited about the annual Peachtree Road Race. On top of that, my brother(BJ) and his wife(Kim) and two of his children(Kelsey Meghan and James Byron) will be running the race as well. I am so excited. Well, back to matters at hand. This week was a very good week seeing that I should have just taken it easy the whole week and done absolutely nothing after my very first Triathlon. Honestly, I could not just sit down and do nothing. I was really beginning to wonder if I was in good enough shape to complete a 10k road race. After this week's training, I can honestly say, YES!

Here are this week's results:

Monday: REST

Tuesday: 10.8 mi(bike)/37:51/Just an easy ride after the triathlon! I got tired of sitting around the house and doing nothing! Great ride and I felt great!

Wednesday: 6.4 mi(run)/55:09/Whew! First long run in awhile! Man, it is hot out already! Today was my first run to get ready for the Peachtree Road Race.

Thursday: 4.2 mi(run)/36:29/Nice, easy run after yesterday's 6 miler. I had planned to take the day off, but just could not do it.

Friday: REST

Saturday: 9.4 mi(run)/1:27:40/Getting ready for the Peachtree. Whew! It was muggy and hot this morning. Nevertheless, a very good run with a lot of hills! Alan and I ran the Peachtree course. This was my first long run since the triathlon and the longest run that I have had in months.

Sunday: REST

Weekly Miles: 20 miles(run)/10.8 miles(bike)

**Please visit the MotionBased link to see more information about each of my runs this week!**

Well, I had hoped to get in a bike ride on Sunday, but it was just too hot and I was just too tired. My wife and I started a painting project on Saturday and it literally took all day to complete. We were both so pooped that we were unable to get up for church on Sunday. Of course, the paint job looks incredible. Were are both very pleased in the turnout! Hope everyone has had a GREAT week of training. I will be getting in more miles till Wednesday and then I will take it easy the next few days and rest for Peachtree. Hope to see everyone at the Peachtree Road Race on Saturday and Happy 4th of July to all!

Callaway Sprint Triathlon Results

1/4 mi swim=11:50
10 mi bike=23:50
2 mi run=14:31
Total time=54:49

My T1 time was 3:09 and my T2 time was 1:31.

I was 29th in my age group and 168th overall out of 1200 people.

I definitely need to improve on my T1 time as that was way too slow. Other than that, I am very happy with my first triathlon experience! I am looking forward to the next one, which is TBD!

June 15-June 21

It is official! I made it through my very first triathlon! The Callaway Gardens Triathlon. Wow, I must say, I really enjoyed the triathlon experience, it was truly an awesome event. The adrenaline was pumping the entire time and I could not wait to get started. I was a little disappointed in my swim time, but at the same time, it seemed to end very quickly. I do not have the results just yet, but I will post them as soon as I get them. The cycling went really well and I think I did a really GREAT job as I passed a lot of people. The run went very well also as I saw myself once again passing a number of people.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: SWIM/30 minutes=40 laps/Today, I realized that I am beginning to really like swimming. After this triathlon, I will probably start swimming a couple times a week.

4.2 mi(run)/35:14/Today's run went really well after 40 laps of swimming. I felt pretty good even though it was pretty hot and humid.

Tuesday: 3.3 mi(run)/28:07/Easy run as I taper for the race. Took my time and enjoyed the run. It was very humid.
6.6 mi(bike)/24:51/Easy, easy ride where I stopped by Jerry's and talked for awhile and then came home. Several big
hills.

Wednesday: SWIM/30 minutes=40 laps/Great swim where I just took my time and tried not to push it too hard.
TENNIS/1-hour/Probably not the best idea since I am supposed to be tapering and not to mention it was like 92 degrees outside, whew!
BIKE/17.8 mi/1:15:53/Nice ride on a very hot day! I should not have been riding seeing that I swam earlier for 30 minutes and then played tennis for an hour in 90 something degree temperature. Whew!

Thursday: REST(Not really, played 18 holes of golf!)

Friday: REST

Saturday: REST

Sunday: Callaway Gardens Sprint Triathlon

Like I said, I am very happy about being able to complete my very first Triathlon! As a matter of fact, I am satisfied with the results. Hope everyone had a great week of training and look for my triathlon results in the next day or so. Congratulations to the Stonaker boys for a great triathlon!

June 8- June 14

Well, another pretty good week of training as I go into my final week before my very first triathlon. I am pretty excited to say the least. I sort of changed a few things around this week in my training. I swam when I was supposed to be running or ran when I was supposed to be biking and so forth. I did not mess up to bad though, I was just unable to do things the normal way this week. I was pretty happy with my swimming this week even though I missed Sunday's swim. I will make up for missing the swim by doing it in the morning(Monday). This week will be my taper week and so I will be taking it easy for the most part.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 22 mi(bike ride)/Nice, relaxing ride with Jerry and his friend. Lot's of hills, but I felt ten times better than our previous ride. Lot's of hills.

Tuesday: 4 mi/31:04/Nice, easy run with a bit of speed. It was a good run considering it was my first run in nearly a week!

Wednesday: SWIM/30 min=42 laps/Great swim and I felt very comfortable the entire swim. I am feeling pretty confident about the swim part of the race!

Thursday: 3.1 mi/38:17/Started the run solo and ran into JP and ran the rest with him doing mostly run/walk. Definitely an easy run!

Friday: 1/4 mi(swim)/14 min/Great swim as I practiced for the race and I felt great!

4.2 mi(run)/33:54/Great run after a quarter mile swim!

Saturday: REST(Not really as I headed up a neighborhood clean-up day in my subdivision!)

Sunday: 22.5 mi(bike)/1:37:20/Great ride with Jerry today! Man, I felt great the entire ride and we did several hills!

3.2 mi(run)/25:55/Great run after the 22 mile bike ride. I felt pretty comfortable and took my time. I did speed up a good bit coming in. For some reason my HR was very high, but I think my HR monitor malfunctioned or so I hope.

Weekly Miles: 14.4 miles(run)/44.5 miles(bike)

**Please visit the MotionBased link to see more information about each of my runs this week!**

Definitely a good week of training. I will continue my regular training this week, just not quite as hard. I will be doing easy runs and easy rides as well as easy swims. I will swim two times, Monday and Wednesday and then take it easy. I hope everyone has had a GREAT week of training!

June 1-June 7

I am reporting in early this week. Basically, I will be in Florida during the usual reporting time and will be unable to report on Sunday. I figured I would just go ahead and give you the details since I will not be doing anything on Friday-Sunday due to my traveling. The week has not been a bad one as far as training. Once again, a good week swimming and I think I am definitely improving in that arena.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: REST

Tuesday: 5.7 mi/46:57/Nice morning run. This was the longest run I have had in awhile. I was able to kick it in the last half-mile or so.

Wednesday: 4 mi/Great morning run, man it is starting to get humid around here. I took my time and just took it easy.
16 mi(bike)/Great ride with Jerry, I felt very tired. It must have been from the morning run and all the yard
work that I did earlier in the day.

Thursday: SWIM/30 min.=40 laps/Nice morning swim! I did not feel that tired and really just tried to work on my strokes and
take my time. I probably had more laps as I kept losing count.

Friday: REST

Saturday: No workout, had to travel to Florida for a funeral. I am sad to report that my Aunt Eloise passed away. She was 85 and is now with the Lord! What a GREAT lady!

Sunday: REST

Other than the fact that I lost my wonderful Aunt Eloise, the week was not that bad. I did celebrate my first full week of being out of school! Yeah! I did a ton of work around the house each day and then the rain came on Thursday, so no more outside work. I did have another project to work on in the house that was nothing, but frustrating, to say the least. I enjoy doing projects and trying new things, but one thing I noticed today. Plumbing is something that I am not too interested in. I tried for two days to fix a drain that was backing up to no avail. Finally, I called a plumber today!

Oh well, hope everyone had a great week of training! Good luck this week and KEEP RUNNING!
