December 22-December 28

Another good week of re-habbing! Wow, I am so glad that I decided to do this rehabbing and taking the month of December off. I feel like it is going really well! I have also been doing a great deal of research this week to try and get more information on my injury. I have learned a few more stretches for the lower adductor and have been utilizing them pretty frequently. I really would like to go for a run just to see how the adductor is feeling, but I have chosen to just wait. I can't wait till Thursday to hit the pavement for the first time in a month.

There is nothing to report this week by way of actual training. I had hoped to go for a ride on Saturday, but got carried away working in the garage with the wife. By the time we finished, it was dark. This week, I will continue to rehab and do some physical therapy. I will probably do a SPIN class on Monday/Wednesday this week. My plan is to start running this week, but ease my way into it as opposed to going hard like I did earlier when I was released to run.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Hope everyone has a Safe and Happy New Year!

December 15-December 21

Well,

Another week of REST and then some more REST! I have really enjoyed the REST and my lower adductor is definitely feeling better. On Saturday, I decided to forget about waiting till January and started to go for a run. As soon as I started, it began to rain and that was my clue that I should probably not be running and hence, no run. As bad as I wanted to run, it was probably the best thing to do.

I was able to get in a SPIN class on Wednesday and that was great! I will be out of school for the next couple of weeks, so I am going to probably take a couple of SPIN classes to try to get some good training in. Hopefully, I will not be too tempted to go for a run this week seeing that I will have a good bit of free time. Of course, now that I am out of school, my lovely wife has several projects around the house that I need to work on, ugh!

I forgot all about the good news that I was supposed to be sharing. A few weeks ago, my wife took me to dinner on a Saturday evening and she wanted to give me an early Christmas gift! What was the gift? Well, she let me know that I am going to be a daddy! Yep, you got it, she is pregnant and we are going to have our first child! Wow, I am so excited, I wish I had the words to express it!

Oh well, that's the news and I am wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday!

December 8-December 14

A good week of rehabbing! Wow, I should have been doing these things a month ago. It has been hard this week not running. As it has only been a week, the results have been surprising. After this week, I am certain to be running strong come January. There is not much to present this week, but the fact that I am feeling pretty excited about the rehabbing!

Here are this week's results:

Monday: REST

Tuesday: REST

Wednesday: SPIN

Thursday: REST

Friday: REST

Saturday: 22 mi(bike)/1:18:51/Whew!! It was cold, too cold to be riding a bike. That being said, I was very happy with how well I felt!

Sunday: REST

Weekly Miles: 22 mi(bike)

I have been spinning on Wednesday's to try not to lose any of my cardio strength. I normally stay in the class for 30 minutes, but this week I was able to stay a little longer, about 40 minutes or so. The class is actually an hour, but I don't really have the time to stay for the full hour. As you can see, I was able to get a bike ride in this week. Man, it was cold, but nevertheless, a great ride. Hope everyone had a great week of training and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all!

December 1-December 7

This week has not been the best by any means, at least when it comes to running. It has definitely been a GREAT week in other ways that I am not at liberty to share right now, but I will be updating you next week with that news. At any rate, I am sad to say that I have decided to stop running for the rest of the month of December. I definitely think that I could run more if I wanted to, but I feel like I need to rest my lower adductor more and just give it some time to heal and to concentrate on some more physical therapy. It seems like I started back a little too soon and started training to hard earlier than I was instructed. That being said, I am still happy about the running that I was able to get in. I just think that if I spend a bit more time getting over this tendinitis, it will help me in the long run. My goal is to still run in the Country Music Marathon in April 2009. My GPS was broken this week so therefore, all of my runs were without any times. I just ran to be running, which was a very good thing. I need to do this more often so my focus is not on time when running. This way I can take my focus off of how fast/slow I am running.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: REST

Tuesday: 5 mi/Wow, very, very cold morning run. It was my first run after the ATL Half-Marathon.

Wednesday: 5 mi/Nice, very comfortable run, did not try to push it or anything.

Thursday: REST

Friday: REST

Saturday: REST

Sunday: REST

Weekly Miles: 10 mi(run)

Although I will not be running this week, I am planning to take SPIN class on Wednesday and do a lot of physical therapy. I am a little frustrated, but at the same time excited about the rest that I will get and the PT. One good thing is that I am no where near where I was when I went to the doctor. In other words, the pain is not bad at all, but it has not gone away and this is what bothers me the most. Hope every one is getting excited about the holidays!! KEEP RUNNING!!
