June 23-June 29

Well, another great week of running, but another missed long run, ugh! Other than missing that long run, I am happy. Why did I miss my long run? Well, for a couple of reasons: 1) could not get my lazy self up early on Sunday, 2) more house work. Like I said, I am not too upset over missing my long run due to the GREAT runs during the week. My goal is just to pretty much get myself ready to start my marathon training at the end of July.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 7.4 mi/
Tuesday: 9.7 mi/
Wednesday: 6.2 mi/
Thursday: 9.7 mi/
Friday: REST
Saturday: ALTA
Sunday: Worked at the House
Mileage=33 miles

This week is going to be a short week for LJ. I will probably do my normal runs Monday through Wednesday and take a break on Thursday due to the Peachtree Road Race on Friday. My plan is to take it easy in the race and just try to enjoy the run and celebrate the 4th. Of course, this is easier said than done as once the race starts, I generally push myself to see how fast I can actually run the 6.2 miles.

Hope everyone has a GREAT week of running and Happy 4th to all!

June 16-June 22

Well, this week has not been exactly what I consider a GREAT week. I was able to get quite a few runs in, just not as many miles as I had hoped for. I did get plenty of exercise, just not a whole lot of miles. Between, tennis and working at the house, I got lots done and the exercise was good.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: Unable to Run
Tuesday: 11 mi/1:30:55
Wednesday: 5.4 mi/45:20
Thursday: 2.2 mi/16:23/speed run
Friday: REST
Saturday: ALTA Tennis
Sunday: REST/Not really, worked at the house!
Mileage=18.6

Well, as you can see I missed my long run on Sunday. I was too busy working on installing new cabinets at home. I definitely learned a lot from my friend Mike who has been a very BIG help at our new home. Thanks Mike, you ROCK! Hopefully, we will finish up with our project on Tuesday or Wednesday and then I will be home free and hope to not miss any more runs. Hope everyone had a GREAT week of running. The temperatures were incredible this past week. I got a feeling that will not be the case this week.

Happy Trails to all,
LJ

June 9-June 15

Finally, a good week of running with no missed runs. Wow, I think the last time that happened, I was in the middle of training for one of my best marathons. I hope that is a sign of GREAT things to come! I have actually enjoyed my running this time of the year in spite of the warmer temperatures. I can honestly say that I think that I have finally acclimated myself to the hot weather. As the 4th of July approaches and I continue to get ready for the annual Peachtree Road Race, I am sure to have a pretty good run. Also, I am probably going to start my training for the NYC Marathon, in early August. Speaking of training, I am definitely going to go back the Arthur Lydiard's training plan, the plan that got me into the best shape of my life.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 7.4 mi/1:00:12
Tuesday: 5.8 mi/46:12
Wednesday: 6.2 mi/57:10
Thursday: 5 mi/39:58
Friday: REST
Saturday: ALTA tennis
Sunday: 12 mi/1:50:18
Mileage=36.4

Like I mentioned earlier, a very good week of training. Today's run (Sunday) was a very good comfortable run with a lot of hills. I ran with a friend of mine and so I was able to run a good 9:25 pace the majority of the way. I ran the last 3 miles or so solo and ran a bit faster, but still a very good comfortable run. This week, I plan to hopefully have another good week of running and try to get the same amount of miles in. Hope everyone is having a GREAT summer, KEEP RUNNING!!

June 2-June 8

It feels so good to be out of school! Yippee. This week was a great week of running and I finally returned to some normalcy as I was able to get a few more runs in. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a long run in on the weekend, due to yard work, the heat, tennis and a long honey-do list!

On a good note, I had my first ALTA tennis match in a few years and won pretty convincingly, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1. I wasn't too happy about going 3 sets, but at least we came away with a victory. Due to my playing ALTA tennis on Saturday's now, my long runs are going to take place on Sunday's.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 7.6 mi/1:00:42
Tuesday: Unable to Run
Wednesday: 4.5 mi/35:21
Thursday: 3.3 mi/28:29 a.m./2.85mi/23:16 p.m.
Friday: REST
Saturday: Tennis
Sunday: Unable to Run
Mileage=18.2

I did get in more runs this week, but not quite as many miles as I had hoped. Obviously, this is due to me not
doing a long run for the week. Oh well, sometimes life gets busy. This week will be a better week for me as
I plan to get all of my runs in in the a.m. Wow, it is getting hot!!! I am a bit surprised at how quickly it has gotten
HOT. I had planned to run today, but at noon it was already in the low 90's.

May 26-June 1

This week has come and gone rather quickly! As I finished up with yet another school year, I was able to get a few good runs in. Of course, I did not run as much as I had hoped to, but nevertheless, I did get some running in.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: REST
Tuesday: Unable to Run
Wednesday: 7.4 mi/1:00:02
Thursday: 3 mi/54:29/Walked with a friend
Friday: REST
Saturday: 10 mi/1:31:02
Sunday: REST/Played 36 holes of golf
Mileage=20.4 mi

So, as you can see, I did not get a whole lot of running in, but at least I did get some in. Also, I have been walking once a week with a good friend of mine and hopefully soon, he is going to start running with me and not just walking the whole time. As I start my second week of being out of school, I am hoping for a much better week of running as I get ready for the Peachtree Road Race coming in nearly a month.

Hope everyone has had a productive and GREAT week! Until next weekend, have a good one and as always,
KEEP RUNNING!!
