Well, it appears that I am finally over my stomach virus. Whew! I would not wish this upon anyone as it is just awful! Oh well, on to my running. Not much running this week once again, but I was able to get two runs in. I also finished my 13th year of teaching on Friday! Another school year has passed and here once again it's summer time! Yippee. I am always a bit excited when the summer rolls around. Hopefully, lot's of golfing ahead and a good bit of running.
Here are this week's results:

Monday: Sick/Ugh!
Tuesday: 4 mi/32:03
Wednesday: 6.2 mi/56:07

As you can see, I did not get in quite as many miles as I had hoped for. At any rate, I did get in a couple of good runs. I am hopeful for a much better week as I finish up with school on Tuesday and Wednesday. I should have no excuse now for missing any runs. Not much to report on this week, but I hope everyone had a GREAT week of running!
Happy running this week to all!

Nothing better than a good run! I've been running for over 30 years and find myself enjoying it more every run. Running marathons is a thing of the past for me. I'm extremely proud to have been able to complete 14 marathons. These days, my goals have changed and I have enjoyed running 1 1/2 marathon a month. Woot! Running 3-4 times a week is good enough. Spending time with my wife and kiddos, Juliana(14) and Jessa(13) are priority for me these days. GR8FL!

May 12-May 18
Wow, what a week! I did not get a single run in this week. I can not remember when the last time was that I went the entire week without running. Well, that is not exactly true. I normally take close to a week off after running a marathon.
I mentioned last week having a stomach virus. Well, I actually went to the doctor last Monday and found out that I had gotten food poisoned somehow. I think it was some old turkey that I got a hold of. Ugh!!! Sunday night was not a good night for me and I ended up having to take off from work on Monday after being up all night. After coming home from the doctor's office, he told me to not run for awhile and of course, I took his advise. That being said, I did go for a nice long run on Sunday.
Here are this week's results:
Monday: Sick
Tuesday: Sick
Wednesday: Recovering
Thursday: Recovering
Friday: RESTING
Saturday: RESTING
Sunday: 12.2 mi/1:47:21
Mileage=12.2 mi

In spite of the food poison, I had a pretty good week. I would have run on Saturday, but I went to my wife's company picnic and was there all day long. We had a blast to say the least. I played golf that morning and then spent the rest of the time playing volley ball and just meeting and greeting her co-workers. GREAT time!
Well, this week is sure to be a much better week and I am hopeful to get in some miles. Oh yeah, I got a new piece of equipment that I tried out yesterday(Sunday). With the warmer temperatures upon us, I bought me a new Cameback backpack.
Wow, it truly helped me with my hydration, but man, wearing an extra 5 lbs. makes a huge difference. I did not expect it to be that bad, my body is aching, especially my legs. The thing is, my heart rate was near 170 the majority of the time throughout my run. I kept thinking that maybe it was because I hadn't run in a week, but that definitely was not the case. I will definitely have to get use to this, but I am only planning to use it on my longer runs.
Hope everyone has a GREAT week of running!

May 5-May 11
Uuuggggghhhh!!! This has been one tough week. Not so much for my running, but for me and my body. Man, I started the week pretty good with a couple of good runs, but ended the week with no running at all. I caught something in the latter part of the week and just could not get rid of it. I think it was either food poisoning or either some type of stomach virus. To say the least, I was unable to run and had no desire to run.
Here are this week's results:
Monday: 4 mi/29:42
Tuesday: 6.9 mi/56:42
Wednesday: SICK/REST
Thursday: SICK/REST
Friday: SICK/REST
Saturday: REST
Sunday: REST
Mileage=10.9 mi

Wow, this is the first time I have run this little in awhile. Oh well, things happen. On Saturday, I had planned to run with a friend, but thought better of it after getting up and not feeling too well. However, I was able to work in the yard all day long with my wife trying to get our new house in order.
Oh well, this week is sure to be much better!
Have a GREAT week of running!

April 28- May 4
Well, I am finally settling in and getting my running back to normal. This week was a very good week of running and I was able to get 4 runs in. I was finally able to get a long run in on Sunday, although it was not quite as long as I was hoping for. I started out thinking I could at least get a 12 miler in, but after running so many hills, I decided I better call it a day and not over-do it.
Here are this week's results:
Monday: Unable to Run
Tuesday: 6.3 mi/56:44
Wednesday: 7.2 mi/59:24
Thursday: 7.2 mi/59:40
Friday: REST(My wife's birthday!!)
Saturday: Unable to Run
Sunday: 10.5 mi/1:22:41
Mileage=31.2 mi

As you can see, I was able to get some good miles in this week. I am hopeful for another good week. The temperatures are definitely rising and I am pretty excited about that. I went today and bought me a CamelBak to start wearing on my longer runs to make sure I am well hydrated. This is something totally new for me as I normally just drink plenty beforehand, but to keep things safe, I am going to wear my CamelBak.
I am not sure how this week will go, but I may go back to my two a day this week, but definitely not on Monday. Hope everyone has a GREAT week! Oh yeah, my wife's surprise birthday party turned out really well! We all had a BLAST and she was definitely surprised!!
