Nothing better than a good run! I've been running for over 30 years and find myself enjoying it more every run. Running marathons is a thing of the past for me. I'm extremely proud to have been able to complete 14 marathons. These days, my goals have changed and I have enjoyed running 1 1/2 marathon a month. Woot! Running 3-4 times a week is good enough. Spending time with my wife and kiddos, Juliana(14) and Jessa(13) are priority for me these days. GR8FL!

Fatherhood.....
Wow, it's hard to believe that I have been a Dad for a whopping 4 years! I love being a dad. Let me say that again. I love being a Dad. Not only do I love it, but I look forward to coming home each and every day to see my girls and going for a wagon ride or just hanging out.
So, you ask, what's the big deal? I thought this was pretty much the norm. Have a kid and love being with them. Wow, and wow again. I am so wrong. I guess there is a reason why we have so many of our children that are in foster care and in homeless shelters.
This truly breaks my heart and I can't even imagine doing such a thing to either of my girls. Really, I can't imagine this. Why can't I imagine this, others seem to not have a problem whatsoever doing this; otherwise, we would not have so many children in foster care and homeless shelters.
OK, back to my point. Why do I love my children so dearly and would never have the thought of not taking care of them like a father would? Or, better yet, like a father should. Have a kid, take care of a kid, right?
I thank God for what I have today. I know I am not the norm, but I married at a later age(I believe there is a reason for that) and here I am, the happiest man alive. Well, that may or may not be true, but I definitely believe that I did not get married till I was ready to be married.
I am going to stop here as this post could go on for days. However, this Father's day, I am grateful to be a dad and love my girls dearly. I can't imagine any other way and I am struggling as to why any parent would not feel the same.
Grateful,
Avid

Grateful for my wife!
My wife never ceases to amaze me. She seems to always be on top of things. No matter what comes her way, she puts her best foot forward and does a great job! SJ, you are my world and because of you it goes around and around each and every day! Thanks.
I would be lying if I said we never have any issues and that I feel this way every day, but the fact is, she does amaze me every single day! Just seeing her with our beautiful children shows me each and every day. My girls love their mommy and it shows daily when they are with her.
Wow, what a blessed man I am. I do not take anything my wife does for granted. Nothing! Without her, my world would not go round and round.
Love you SJ,
LJ

FAMILY....
I am so grateful for my family. My lovely wife, kids and myself have a monthly appointment with my brother, BJ and his family every month for dinner. It is something that we look forward to every month! "Good times," is what I seem to text them each and every month after I get home from our gathering.
It amazes me how the time gets by us, here we are, with our nieces and nephews growing up and off to college they go. It is bittersweet. On one hand, it is so exciting seeing the kiddos grow up and watching them do so well. On the other, they are just growing up way too fast. Just to fast.
All that being said, I think I am definitely more excited than sad. We truly have to do what we can while they are young and do the best that we can to mold them into the individuals that the Lord has called each of them to be. If we do that, the rest is up to Him!
I have definitely seen that while watching my nieces and nephews grow up! What a blessing! One at Georgia Tech doing well and the other on his way to Tech. It shows that the values and beliefs that my brother and his wife have instilled in them is evident as they move forward in their lives.
I am grateful for an example for me and my lovely wife as we raise our beautiful daughters to be the people that He has called them to be.
Looking forward to all that He has in store for them! Thanks BJ and Kim for being such great examples for us. We enjoy our time with you guys and your kiddos!
Grateful,
LJ

Happy 4th Birthday Juliana!
God Sent to Me an Angel
God sent to me an angel,
it had a broken wing.
I bent my head and wondered
"How could God do such a thing?"
When I asked the Father
why He sent this child to me,
the answer was forthcoming,
He said "Listen and you'll see."
"My children are all precious,
and none is like the rest.
Each one to me is special,
and the least is as the best.
I send each one from Heaven
and I place it in the care
of those who know my mercy,
those with love to spare.
Sometimes I take them back again.
Sometimes I let them stay.
No matter what may happen
I am never far away.
So if you find an angel
and you don't know what to do,
remember, I am with you,
love is all I ask of you."

Great Weekend....
My weekend started with my daughter's pre-school teacher letting me and my wife know of the progression that she was making in the classroom with her walking. As most of you know, my daughter has a rare condition called, Angelman's Syndrome. Children with AS generally walk between the ages of 3-5.
The progression that my daughter's teacher was referring to was in the area of walking. Of course, what she was seeing in the classroom, we were NOT seeing at home. The teacher let us in on a little secret and let us know some of the tips they were using at school to see the progression. Lo' and behold, we decided to immediately try some of the same strategies mentioned and wow, what a difference. To our surprise, our little Angel spent the weekend walking her little legs off! (unassisted)
Talk about a 360. My wife and I have spent a lot of time this weekend letting others know that hey, guess what, our daughter has officially began to walk! How exciting is that! In case you did not notice, you can see my previous post here.
I was actually watching a movie tonight and happened to glance over at the coat rack and immediately wanted to write a post. Why? I guess you can say that I am so proud of my little angel and the hard work that she is doing in school and just to be able to see the payoff makes me happy!
It amazes me that we think so often of ourselves and we think how tough we really have it. Really? Are you kidding me? We should just take a moment and look around sometime and I guarantee you can find something or someone that is much worse off and you realize, gee, I don't have so bad after all.
Grateful for a kid that works her butt off inspite of what she was born with to make her future brighter. It amazes me that this little 3 year old, soon to be 4 year old does this, everyday! Want to talk about encouragement? Wow, I have nothing to complain about, absolutely nothing. Next time you decide to complain or wonder why? Look to the left or possibly to the right.
Grateful dad,

Great Day!
It was truly a great day! I started the day taking not one, but both of my lovely girls to breakfast! On top of that it was pouring down rain. I decided early in the week that I would give my wife a break and take both girls with me and it was confirmed when I told my 2 year old(Jessa) that we were going to breakfast and she responded, "It's my turn again daddy?" The reason she asked is because she has learned that the two of them take turns each Saturday and she went last weekend.
I knew it would be a bit of a challenge to pull this off, but I knew that I would be able to handle it. Why? I think for the most part, I have been watching my girls and they are growing up way too fast and are really maturing and becoming more independent. Pooh Bear(Jessa), she is a great helper and I knew that she would be able to do just that today, help me. She was up for the task and did a great job. Don't get me wrong, she was a bit busy herself, but was more than anything a good helper.
For starters, I had to get one kid at a time out of the vehicle due to the pouring down rain. Jessa was the first kiddo. I asked Jessa to patiently wait, with her backpack in front of the restaurant while I ran to get Juliana and she did an incredible job(and looked so cute doing so)! I was smiling from ear to ear just because she did what she was told. I got Juliana out of the vehicle and we were good to go!
We had a great breakfast(as always) and I am so proud of both of them. They let me feed them and then they both waited patiently as I ate. Love my girls! Then, it was time to do it all over again and get back to the car and once again, the girls were incredible and Jessa stood patiently while I got Juliana all situated in the car.
To top our morning off, I decided to take the girls to Pet Smart to see some pets. What a treat it was!! I won't bore you with getting in and out of the vehicle, but I will say that I changed the process and let little Jessa Bear walk with me solo while I held Juliana's hand and the umbrella and they both did extremely well(beside the fact that they both loved jumping in the puddles of water).
My girls loved every minute of visiting the fish, hamsters and birds!
Love my girls!
