Time to go back to school! Ugh! Yep, my summer is finally over and of course, it went way too fast, as usual. That being said, it has been a wonderful summer! I got lots of projects done around the house and more importantly, I got to spend a lot of time with my lovely wife! There are several projects that I did not get done, but I was able to get the majority of them completed. I am actually glad school is back in as now I can get back to my normal routine of getting up and going to the gym.
Here are this week's results:
Monday: 4.2 mi(run)/34:41/Nice run after a one-day break. Felt really good and had a nice fast finish!
Tuesday: REST
Wednesday: RAIN
Thursday: REST
Friday: 3 mi(run)/24:47/Tough run after a night with my good pal Denny!
Saturday: REST
Sunday: REST
As you can see, I did not get much running in at all this week. As a matter of fact, I did not get hardly any type of training in. For the most part, I decided to take it easy and to get some rest. I also had a friend come in town on Thursday and stayed through the weekend. This made it difficult to get any training in. I did top my week off by going to see my good buddies Jay, Joe Don and Gary of Rascal Flatts on Friday evening! We always have a good time when they come to town. Thanks Jay for yet another great night. Really enjoyed the "Unstoppable" show and looking forward to seeing you guys again in the next few months. Well, here's to a better week and my first week back to school!

Nothing better than a good run! I've been running for over 30 years and find myself enjoying it more every run. Running marathons is a thing of the past for me. I'm extremely proud to have been able to complete 14 marathons. These days, my goals have changed and I have enjoyed running 1 1/2 marathon a month. Woot! Running 3-4 times a week is good enough. Spending time with my wife and kiddos, Juliana(14) and Jessa(13) are priority for me these days. GR8FL!

July 20-July 26
Well, not a horrible week of training. I decided to take it easy this week and to spend some time resting. I also decided to not run any hills and to try to only run flat courses (is that even possible around here?). It was a good week and I enjoyed the REST days. As you can see, I did not really rest due to the yard work that I needed to get done, but my body got some rest from the asphalt pounding.
Here are this week's results:
Monday: 13.5 mi(bike)/49:39/I had a really good bike ride with some cooler temperatures in the ATL.
Tuesday: 4.2 mi(run)/35:59/Tough run after a night of Pilates. I definitely felt a little sore from the class, but a good run.
Wednesday: REST(Yard work!)
Thursday: REST(More yard work!)
Friday: 4.2 mi(run)/35:22/Nice, little 4 mile run after a couple of days rest and the route was extremely flat!
Saturday: 7 mi(run)/1:05:30/Nice run with Allen in Buckhead. Whew, I was pooped and did not feel like running, but a fairly good run.
Sunday: REST
So, not a bad week of training. This week will be a lot like this past week. This is my last week of freedom and then I am back to work! I will be playing a little golf this week and continuing my yard work as my free time becomes less and less since school is starting again. It has been a great summer and that is due mostly to ALL the time that I have been able to spend with my lovely wife.
Hope everyone has a GREAT week and KEEP RUNNING!

July 13-July19
This week was yet another great week of running. I did not get to ride my bike this week at all, but I am not too unhappy with that. I would have ridden on Sunday, but decided to have a movie day with my lovely wife instead. I also needed the rest and relaxation.
Here are this week's results:
Monday: 4.2 mi(run)/34:39/Nice evening run in cooler temperatures. First time running in the evening in awhile. Very nice, relaxing run.
Tuesday: 5 mi(run)/42:07/Whew! The first 3 miles were great, but the last two were brutal! I was hurting coming in.
Wednesday: REST
Thursday: 3 mi(run)/25:07/Another very hot and humid run! Of course, I did not run till around 11ish, so I cut my run short.
Friday: REST
Saturday: 10.5 mi(run)/1:30:27/Definitely my longest run in a few months. Nice, cool morning with a pain-free run and a few big hills.
Sunday: REST
Weekly Miles: 22.7 miles(run)/0 miles(bike)

This week, I plan to take it easy and take a couple of Pilate classes at my gym. I think this will tie in nicely with recovering from my tendinitis injury and hopefully help me get rid of it once and for all. I am a little disappointed in myself as I should have been doing this all summer and just now starting the class. Oh well, life goes on . I am also going to just run short runs this week(4 milers) and skip the longer weekend runs. I think I have been training a little too hard lately and trying to push myself a little too hard on the hills. Hope everyone is enjoying these cooler temperatures the last few days. Have a GREAT week of training!

July 6-July 12
This week was not a bad week of training. My wife and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary this week and it was a lot of fun! We went downtown Buckhead and stayed at the Ritz on Friday night. Wow, what a blast! Congrats sweetie on surviving 4 years with me! You are truly a cutie! Thanks for 4 wonderful years and I look forward to what God has in store for the two us this year!
My training went pretty well this week, especially seeing that I am not really training for anything. I am trying to figure out exactly what I would like to do next, (i.e. marathon, triathlon, nothing). I am actually really enjoying the cross-training and doing nothing, but I know that will not last. I am very happy about my running this week. I was able to put in several long runs and they were all pain-free! This week will probably be a repeat of last week and I hope to get in a few more bike rides. I have been a bit slack on the cycling lately.
Here are this week's results:
Monday: 4 mi(run)/34:25/Just an easy 4 miler where I took my time and tried not to push it too hard.
Tuesday: 6.6 mi(run)/59:51/I wanted to just take it easy. I did for the most part, I ran into Nadine from the gym and ran with her. Nice, easy run!
Wednesday: REST
Thursday: 6.2 mi(run)/52:42/Nice run with very cool morning temperatures. I felt a bit sluggish, but was able to still run some good splits.
Friday: REST
Saturday: 8 mi(run)/1:06:04/Nice morning run in Buckhead. Ran the Peachtree course and turned around.
Sunday: 30 mi(bike)/1234/Whew! Nice Sunday afternoon bike ride. Lot's of hills and man, I am feeling it.
Weekly Miles: 24.2 miles(run)/30 miles(bike)

My Sunday bike ride was definitely a great way to end my week. When I started my ride, I did not plan for a 30 miler, but I was so happy just to be on my bike again. As you can see, I added some new details to each of my workouts, thanks to Garmin Connect. I hope everyone has a great week of training and I will catch up with everyone next Sunday! Have a GREAT week!
