March 24-March 30/ING GA Marathon

First, I am excited to report that I finished the 2nd Annual ING Georgia Marathon. I did not have a PR,
but I am extremely happy with my time. The conditions for the ING were definitely not the greatest, but
that is not an excuse for a better run. I am totally happy with my results. I must say I was a bit
surprised with the number of hills the course had. After running the course for a 20 mile training run, I think it hurt
me not knowing what the final 6 miles were like. Wow, I knew Atlanta had hills, but I was not expecting ING to have
this many hills. Once again, that is not an excuse, more than anything it was my fault for not being better prepared.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: REST
Tuesday: 6.1 mi/52:25
Wednesday: REST
Thursday: 4.2 mi/36:02
Friday: REST
Saturday: 2 mi/17:43
Sunday: ING GA Marathon/3:46:40
Mileage=38.4

Well, I am going to take a well needed break from training this week and not run at all. I will probably resume my running a week from tomorrow(Monday). It is possible that I may run next Saturday, but probably not. My next marathon is going to be the New York City Marathon in November. I will keep you updated as to when I plan to start training for the marathon. My plan is to just rest and run some local 5 and 10k road races. I would like to find 1 or 2 half marathons to run as well. Hope everyone that had the opportunity to run the ING met your goals and were pleased with your times. If not, there are plenty more marathons coming up. I would not mind going to Nashville to run the Country Music Marathon for a 3rd time, but that is highly unlikely.

Congrats to all that finished the ING and good luck recovering!
LJ
PS Look for me to post some photos of ING later on in the week!

March 17-March 23

ING, here I come! This has been a fairly good week of training. I missed 1 run, but once again,
I needed the rest. This week, I will be taking my time on every run as I don't think I will need
to do any more speed work. I am hoping for some nice weather next Sunday and not much wind.
It has definitely been pretty windy the last few days. Good thing I did not run today as it was very
windy!

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 6 mi/52:23
Tuesday: REST
Wednesday: 7.2 mi/1:00:23
Thursday: REST
Friday: REST
Saturday: 8 mi/1:16:49

March 10-March 16

Taper time, taper time! Man, it feels so good to be tapering. I took it easy this week and got some good runs in. I must say, I did a poor job pacing myself this week. Instead of running 9:00-9:30 minute miles in most of my runs, I was running more like 8:00-8:30 minute miles. That is not really taking it easy, but oh well, I will do better this week. I definitely was able to take it easy on my long run which happened to be on Sunday as opposed to my usual Saturday. Due to the tornadoes and the rain in Atlanta, I had to push my long run to today(Sunday). I also finished my 12.4 miler with a 6:40 mile, so that was pretty cool.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: REST
Tuesday: 6 mi/51:41
Wednesday: REST
Thursday: 6 mi/49:24
Friday: REST
Saturday: REST
Sunday: 12.4 mi/1:57:03
Mileage=24.4

**Please visit the MotionBased link to see more information about each of my runs this week!**

As you can see, I did miss a couple of run this week, but no biggie. Seeing that I am tapering, REST can only help me at this time. Although I did miss some runs, I am hoping for a much better week this week. Also, the temperatures should be much better this week.

This week's schedule:

Monday: 6 mi
Tuesday: REST
Wednesday: 7 mi
Thursday: 5 mi
Friday: REST
Saturday: 10 mi
Sunday: 4 mi

Have a GREAT week of running!

March 3-March 9

Taper time...baaaaabbbbbbyyyy! I had planned to try to do one more 20 miler, but I am happy with my training and will bypass and start getting some much needed REST!

This week went pretty well and I had 4 very good runs. I felt pretty tired earlier in the week, but seemed to get stronger throughout the week. Most of my runs were comfortable ones and not many surprises. I had to switch my normal Saturday long run to Sunday due to some plans that I had. I am just happy that I was able to get it in.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 7 mi/1:00:03
Tuesday: 7.5 mi/1:02:35
Wednesday: Unable to Run
Thursday: 10.7/1:30:26
Friday: REST
Saturday: REST
Sunday: 20.9 mi/3:02:52
Mileage=46.1

**Please visit the MotionBased link to see more information about each of my runs this week!**

This week was a very successful week and I am very happy with the results. I did manage to miss one run which was on Wednesday. No biggie. As I start to taper this week, here is my schedule:

Monday: REST
Tuesday: 6 miles
Wednesday: 8 miles
Thursday: 6 miles
Friday: REST
Saturday: 14 miles
Sunday 4 miles

Have a GREAT week of running and Spring time is just around the corner!

KEEP RUNNING,

February 25-March 2

Back on track is how I feel right now. What a good week of running. Even though I missed one of my runs, I am pretty happy about my training. Each of my runs this week were really good ones and it felt really good to get another 20 miler under my belt!

My week started out with an easy 7 miler on Monday and on Tuesday, what a surprise! I started my run and wasn't sure how far I was going to run. After seeing a lot of lightening, I decided I better turn around and head back to the starting point(LA Fitness). About 10 minutes into heading back, the bottom fell out and man it was brutal. I can honestly say, I have never run in such horrible weather. Not only was it pouring down rain, but the wind was horrendous. Thank God I was close to home, so instead of going back to the gym, I took a detour and ran home. My wife had to take me to the gym to my car and my clothes.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 6.8 mi/55:50/L1-28:39/L2-27:10/EASY RUN
Tuesday: 6.3 mi/49:52/Caught in storm
Wednesday: Unable to Run
Thursday: 11.2 mi/1:31:28/Hilly Run
Friday: REST
Saturday: 20.5 mi/2:54:57
Sunday: REST
Mileage=44.8

This week was definitely a successful week! I started the week running in the mornings and finished up on Thursday running in the evening. I am hoping to do the same this week and run in the morning. Also, I purchased me a new toy this week. A Garmin Forerunner 305. Awesome GPS. Now I don't have to worry about how far I have run or how many calories I have burned. The GPS tells it all. Starting this week I will be including each of my weekly runs. Please don't hesitate to check them out underneath LJ's Weekly Runs/Routes.

Have a GREAT week of running as the temperatures start to get warmer.
