Well, I did not get in many runs this week, but I did get in 2 good runs. I was only able to run on Tuesday and Thursday, but I was happy. My wife and I went away for the weekend with some friends. Wow, we had a GREAT time. I had planned to run Saturday from the mountains, but it rained the entire weekend. I actually got up to run on Sunday, just to find more rain!
Here are this week's results:

Tuesday: 6.2 mi/52:17/Nice run in which I was fortunately able to take it easy on!

I am hoping for a much better week this week. It looks like we are getting some very cold weather this week, so I may have to miss a couple of my runs. I know for starters that I will be missing Monday's run due to a doctor's appointment. Hopefully, I can get in a long run come Tuesday.
My wife and I went to Lake Rabun this past weekend with our friends, the Guilday's. Wow, guys we had a blast and really enjoyed the company. Michael Robert and Laura, it was good seeing you guys, it had been way too long. As always, Mike, you and Tami have been so nice to us and we are so grateful for the two of you!
Hope everyone has a GREAT week and as always, KEEP RUNNING!

Nothing better than a good run! I've been running for over 30 years and find myself enjoying it more every run. Running marathons is a thing of the past for me. I'm extremely proud to have been able to complete 14 marathons. These days, my goals have changed and I have enjoyed running 1 1/2 marathon a month. Woot! Running 3-4 times a week is good enough. Spending time with my wife and kiddos, Juliana(14) and Jessa(13) are priority for me these days. GR8FL!

February 16-February 22
Not a great week of training, but not a terrible week either. I missed 2 days due to busyness. After a 32 mile week last week, I did not come close to getting that many miles in. That being said, the quality of the runs that I had this week were great and Saturday's run proved a lot to me! I feel pretty good about running again and doing speed work and possibly starting to train for another marathon!
Here are this week's results:
Monday: REST
Tuesday: 6.3 mi/53:16/It was supposed to be a slow, recovery run, but it turned out to be a speed workout! Nice run!
Wednesday: REST
Thursday: REST
Friday: REST
Saturday: 12.1 mi/1:44:58/Nice run with a fast 2 miler at miles 9 and 10. Great run and I felt great!
Sunday: REST
Weekly Miles: 18.4 mi

I had hoped to get a run in on Sunday, but it was just too windy and cold! I definitely felt rested from my 12 miler, just did not want to deal with the wind. Even with 2 runs in this week, I am not beating myself up. Hopefully we will have a some warmer weather this week and I will be able to get a few more runs in. I normally take off on Monday's, but since I did not run on Sunday, I am probably going to run tomorrow to start my week. My plan is to continue to rehab and start taking a Pilates class on Tuesday evenings. This is basically a "stretching" class that will continue to help me with my rehabbing. Hope everyone had a better week than did and was able to put in a few more miles.

February 9-February 15
This has been one exciting week! For starters, this week was a much better week in my personal/family life. My wife and I are pretty recovered from the events from last week. Both of our families are doing much better as well.
Now, back to my running! I missed my Wednesday run mostly due to the fact that it was raining. I was a little disappointed, but there is not much that I can do about the weather. I started the week with a great 8 mile run that I fought to not run too hard. I must say, it seems like all of my runs lately, I have had to do that. All in all, I would like to think that is a good thing. My running seems to be coming around and I am beginning to feel like my old self again. It has been exciting to be able to run pain-free and I have been running a lot of hills too. Of course, how can you not run hills around here.
Here are this week's results:
Monday: REST
Tuesday: 8 mi/1:08:57/Great run with some speed coming in with no pain!
Wednesday: REST
Thursday: 5 mi/41:25/Fast run with a hard time of not running too hard! I ran the last hilly part of my run under 7 minutes.
Friday: REST
Saturday: 11.5 mi/1:39:38/Sweet long run with no pain, it was a fairly hilly course as well!
Sunday: 7.7 mi/1:11:29/Great run after a 11.5 miler the day before. I did not feel nearly as bad as I had thought. Ran with Stefanie.
Weekly Miles: 32.2 mi
Definitely a great week of training! I am so excited about being back on track and just being able to run pain-free. I am also pretty excited about being able to run in warm temperatures again. It has been so long. BJ, sorry to hear about your results from the Mercedes Marathon, I must say, it happens to the best of us. I am certain that you will figure out what is going wrong and make adjustments. Congratulations on 2 marathons in a 1-month period. You da man! Hope everyone has had a great week on running!!
Keep running!!

February 2-February 8
Rough week! That's about all I can say. I did not get a single run in till the weekend. Man, it was just too cold around here and I just could not motivate myself to get out there. On Wednesday, I came home from school and even got dressed to run. When I stepped out and started my usual stretching routine, whew, the wind hit me. It was just down-right nasty! I decided to blow it off and REST.
Here are this week's results:
Saturday: 10 mi/1:29:09/Great 10 miler with Josh with a very fast last mile!
Sunday: 6 mi/55:55/Nice, easy Sunday run! I felt great considering I ran a 10 miler the day before! Awesome.
Weekly Miles: 16 mi

I definitely did not get in nearly as many miles as last week, but I am totally satisfied. I feel as though I am beginning to get back to my normal self. Sunday's run just felt great. I think it was in part due to the nice warm temperatures. As a matter of fact, it was so warm that I over-dressed, but I was not miserable. I actually had some really good hills on Sunday as well. This week has been a fairly difficult week in my personal life. My wife and I had 2 deaths in the family, so we are trying to deal with those losses. I tell you, running is once again one of those nice coping mechanisms that I am so grateful for. My wife left on Sunday afternoon and man, I was beginning to feel a little depressed. Once I got my run in, I began to feel a thousand times better! I still miss you sweetie, so hurry up and get back home!
Hope everyone has a nice week of running!
