May 19-May 25

Well, it appears that I am finally over my stomach virus. Whew! I would not wish this upon anyone as it is just awful! Oh well, on to my running. Not much running this week once again, but I was able to get two runs in. I also finished my 13th year of teaching on Friday! Another school year has passed and here once again it's summer time! Yippee. I am always a bit excited when the summer rolls around. Hopefully, lot's of golfing ahead and a good bit of running.

Here are this week's results:

Sunday: Sick/Ugh!
Monday: Sick/Ugh!
Tuesday: 4 mi/32:03
Wednesday: 6.2 mi/56:07
Thursday: REST
Friday: REST
Saturday: 12.3 mi/1:43:50
Mileage=22.5 mi

As you can see, I did not get in quite as many miles as I had hoped for. At any rate, I did get in a couple of good runs. I am hopeful for a much better week as I finish up with school on Tuesday and Wednesday. I should have no excuse now for missing any runs. Not much to report on this week, but I hope everyone had a GREAT week of running!

Happy running this week to all!

May 12-May 18

Wow, what a week! I did not get a single run in this week. I can not remember when the last time was that I went the entire week without running. Well, that is not exactly true. I normally take close to a week off after running a marathon.

I mentioned last week having a stomach virus. Well, I actually went to the doctor last Monday and found out that I had gotten food poisoned somehow. I think it was some old turkey that I got a hold of. Ugh!!! Sunday night was not a good night for me and I ended up having to take off from work on Monday after being up all night. After coming home from the doctor's office, he told me to not run for awhile and of course, I took his advise. That being said, I did go for a nice long run on Sunday.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: Sick
Tuesday: Sick
Wednesday: Recovering
Thursday: Recovering
Friday: RESTING
Saturday: RESTING
Sunday: 12.2 mi/1:47:21
Mileage=12.2 mi

In spite of the food poison, I had a pretty good week. I would have run on Saturday, but I went to my wife's company picnic and was there all day long. We had a blast to say the least. I played golf that morning and then spent the rest of the time playing volley ball and just meeting and greeting her co-workers. GREAT time!

Well, this week is sure to be a much better week and I am hopeful to get in some miles. Oh yeah, I got a new piece of equipment that I tried out yesterday(Sunday). With the warmer temperatures upon us, I bought me a new Cameback backpack.
Wow, it truly helped me with my hydration, but man, wearing an extra 5 lbs. makes a huge difference. I did not expect it to be that bad, my body is aching, especially my legs. The thing is, my heart rate was near 170 the majority of the time throughout my run. I kept thinking that maybe it was because I hadn't run in a week, but that definitely was not the case. I will definitely have to get use to this, but I am only planning to use it on my longer runs.

Hope everyone has a GREAT week of running!

May 5-May 11

Uuuggggghhhh!!! This has been one tough week. Not so much for my running, but for me and my body. Man, I started the week pretty good with a couple of good runs, but ended the week with no running at all. I caught something in the latter part of the week and just could not get rid of it. I think it was either food poisoning or either some type of stomach virus. To say the least, I was unable to run and had no desire to run.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 4 mi/29:42
Tuesday: 6.9 mi/56:42
Wednesday: SICK/REST
Thursday: SICK/REST
Friday: SICK/REST
Saturday: REST
Sunday: REST
Mileage=10.9 mi

Wow, this is the first time I have run this little in awhile. Oh well, things happen. On Saturday, I had planned to run with a friend, but thought better of it after getting up and not feeling too well. However, I was able to work in the yard all day long with my wife trying to get our new house in order.

Oh well, this week is sure to be much better!

Have a GREAT week of running!

April 28- May 4

Well, I am finally settling in and getting my running back to normal. This week was a very good week of running and I was able to get 4 runs in. I was finally able to get a long run in on Sunday, although it was not quite as long as I was hoping for. I started out thinking I could at least get a 12 miler in, but after running so many hills, I decided I better call it a day and not over-do it.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: Unable to Run
Tuesday: 6.3 mi/56:44
Wednesday: 7.2 mi/59:24
Thursday: 7.2 mi/59:40
Friday: REST(My wife's birthday!!)
Saturday: Unable to Run
Sunday: 10.5 mi/1:22:41
Mileage=31.2 mi

As you can see, I was able to get some good miles in this week. I am hopeful for another good week. The temperatures are definitely rising and I am pretty excited about that. I went today and bought me a CamelBak to start wearing on my longer runs to make sure I am well hydrated. This is something totally new for me as I normally just drink plenty beforehand, but to keep things safe, I am going to wear my CamelBak.

I am not sure how this week will go, but I may go back to my two a day this week, but definitely not on Monday. Hope everyone has a GREAT week! Oh yeah, my wife's surprise birthday party turned out really well! We all had a BLAST and she was definitely surprised!!

April 21- April 27

Whew! I am pooped! Very. I am on my way to bed as I am extremely tired from my move. However, I would like to update you on my running this week! This week was awesome as far as running. I got a lot of good miles in. I also ran on Friday, which I never do. Of course, I ran only because I knew that I would not be able to on Sunday.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: 4.3 mi/35:08(morning)/4 mi/33:48(afternoon)
Tuesday: 4 mi/32:42(morning)/6.2/59:35(afternoon)
Wednesday: 4 mi/32:50
Thursday: 6.4 mi/57:51
Friday: 7.2 mi/1:00:31
Saturday: MOVING not RESTING
Sunday: MOVING not RESTING
Mileage=40.1

I was very happy with running in the morning and running in the evening. What a workout! I will not be able to do that this week as I have a whole lot of yard work and house stuff to do! I am sure to get a workout doing yard work. That being said, I do plan to run Monday morning and then run in the evening most of the week. Hopefully, I can get lot's of miles in during the week as it looks like I am going to miss my Saturday run for a 2nd week in a row, due to my wife's big birthday. No biggie!

Yep, definitely a good week. I was rather happy with my results this week, especially seeing how busy I was. Man, as I mentioned last week, my wife and I bought a new home and were in the process of moving. Well, this weekend, we finally moved. Wow, I am soooooo tired, I wish I had taken off work on Monday. Oh well, I am sure that I will get over the move and make it just fine. This week is going to be yet another busy, busy week as I prepare for my wife's big "40th." We are going to have a GREAT time celebrating. Her birthday is actually on Friday, but I am sure we will celebrate all weekend, as you only turn "40" once, right?

Oh well, hope everyone has a GREAT week of running and I hope all that ran the Country Music Marathon were able to meet those time goals that you had set!

KEEP RUNNING,
LJ

April 14- April 20

Well, the final week of recovery is in the books. I am so excited and ready to get some miles in before the HOT temperatures hit Atlanta. I had a really good week of running and got a few more runs in than last week. Most of the runs that I got in were good ones and I probably ran faster than I should have as usual. I know that my long run on Saturday was a good run where I was actually able to take it easy. I have no set schedule this week. I am pretty much going to continue to take it easy and probably add some speed work this week. My plan is to run a 10k in the next couple of weeks.

Here are this week's results:

Monday: REST
Tuesday: 7.1 mi/59:45
Wednesday: 4. 1mi/33:41
Thursday: REST
Friday: REST
Saturday: 7.8 mi/1:16:37
Sunday: REST
Mileage=19 mi

As I said, this week was definitely a good week, especially compared to the last two. It is so exciting to hit
the pavement as the weather is getting warmer and nicer. Of course, with that, comes getting use to the warmer
temperatures. That usually means slower times for me as my body adjusts. This week is going to be a very busy week for me as my wife and I get ready to move to our new home. I am certain to still get a few runs in, but I can tell you now that I am definitely going to miss my long run on Saturday as that is the actual moving day.

Happy Running!!

April 7- April 13

This week has been another week of REST for ol LJ! I was on Spring break all week and had planned to run a good bit more, but just did not find the time. My wife and I just bought a new home and I must say, I have been getting ready
for the big moving day, April 25. I did get one run in on Saturday and it was a nice run with my lovely wife. We both started out for a little 2 miler and got caught in the rain. This was the first time we ran together in a good while.

Here is my schedule for this week as I complete my 3rd week of recovery.

Monday: 4 mi
Tuesday: 5 mi
Wednesday: 4 mi
Thursday: 3 mi
Friday: REST
Saturday: 10 mi
Sunday: 8 mi

I am looking forward to getting back to my usual running this week. I am hopeful for a GREAT
week of running. Have a GREAT week of running!
